Catriona Woodward is an international education leader with over a decade of experience across the UK, Hong Kong, Hungary, and the Netherlands. A creative at heart, Catriona has always sought to bridge the gap between education and creativity, pursuing senior leadership positions in start-up schools where genuine innovation was not only possible but expected.
These roles allowed her to work across a wide range of areas: curriculum design, culture building, team leadership, parental engagement, branding, and student achievement. The thread running through all of it has been a conviction that education works best when it is bold enough to do things differently.
After completing Master's level research into the benefits of outdoor learning, Catriona went on to support the development and running of two forest-beach schools in Hong Kong — work that placed her at the forefront of nature-based pedagogy in Asia.
Understanding the need for education to be future-proofed in a rapidly changing world, she engaged with thought leaders in Project-Based Learning and has continued supporting schools across Asia and Europe to create meaningful, inquiry-driven learning experiences.
Throughout her leadership career, Catriona has always kept one foot in the classroom. She believes that true leaders need to understand learning from the student's perspective in order to create sustained and meaningful change. Her approach to tutoring reflects the same philosophy: highly individualised, responsive, and built around each learner's strengths and needs.
My leadership philosophy is grounded in listening, shared responsibility and empowerment.
Ikuei Education was inspired by two kanji: 育 — to raise, nurture, grow — and 英 — excellence, brilliance, outstanding talent. Together they describe something specific: the quiet, serious investment in human potential that sits at the heart of this work.
